Advanced Home Automation
(AHA)

The main aim of this project is to implement a low cost, reliable and scalable home automation system that can be used to remotely control any household appliance, to achieve hardware simplicity using a microcontroller an low cost short messaging service for feedback.

Abstract

Technology is a never ending process. To be able to design a product using the current technology that will be beneficial to the lives of others is a huge contribution to the community. This paper presents the design and implementation of a low cost but yet flexible and secure home automation system. The design is based on a stand alone Arduino UNO board and the home appliances are connected to the input/ output ports of this board via relays. The communication between the cell phone and the Arduino UNO board is wireless. Home applications like bulbs, windows, water motors , automatic door locking systems etc. are controlled using AHA. The main motive is controlled home appliances in smart homes with user friendly, design at low cost and simple installation. Password protection is being used to only allow authorized users from accessing the appliances at home.

This project module includes the different sensors which work or automate our home without any human command. The algorithm is so smart which makes many things in our home automated.

  • Virtual implementation is done using Tinker CAD.

  • This project is also implemented using the hardware mentioned same as the virtual implementation during our academic project presentation.
